7 Trees on a Hill, Long Shadows

This is a series of about 8 paintings of a small pond about a mile from my home.  All of these rather large plein air paintings are painted at different times of the day in different seasons.  Toting my French easel on my back like a knapsack and my fishing pole in my hands I would hike across two farms to reach the pond and spend the better part of the day painting and fishing.  Long Shadows was painted in the early evening as I watched the shadows from the woods slowly creep up the hill to the trees.
