Barn Point, Yeocomico River— Few people are familiar with the Yeocomico River. It’s a short but very wide river in the Northern Neck of Virginia as it empties near the mouth of the Potomac River. I always round this point as I make my way to the Potomac. I am always observant at this point to inspect the wind and waves in preparation for the sail. On this fall late afternoon there was hardly any breeze and the water was unusually calm for a large body of water. I was attracted to the reflections in the water of the clouds and group of pine trees. This work was awarded first place in the competition, “Water” in 2012 at the Orange Art Center
