Corolla Dunes, Morning after a Storm

Corolla Dunes is a series of 12 paintings depicting the same location near the ocean at Corolla, North Carolina. Similar to the idea of Monet’s series, "Cathedral at Rouen”, I became fascinated with the light changing through the day, the effect of humidity and the wind in their effect on the sky, ocean, and dune. While on vacation at Corolla my cottage overlooks the oceanside dunes and the ocean beyond. In "Corolla Dune, Morning after a Storm”, the sun has returned in the morning to renew my spirit after a Nor’easter occurring days prior as a result of passing Hurricane Teddy.
