After the Revolutionary war, my German ancestor first settled in McGaheysville, a rural community not far from Harrisonburg, Va.  The location has always interest me for its personal historical value and beautiful scenery.  This is a pristine area at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains where the Shenandoah River flows nearby.  I often come to the area looking for painting motifs.  In this painting I was attracted to the warm humid clouds rising over the Blue Ridge, and the contrasting colors from the recent plowed field and the next adjacent hay field.
